I’ve been driving for just over eight years, and I’ve always wanted to learn how to drive a manual car. Last week my brother and I were invited to a really fun event at Toyota headquarters where we got the chance to test drive the new manual 2019 Corolla Hatchback.

It was the first time that I actually felt very connected to the drive, and road, because driving manually required me to listen to the engine, and focus on shifting gears at the right moment. There are so many new technological developments in the automotive industry like self driving cars and a focus on SUVS, it actually felt nice to get back to the essence of driving again.

I loved the Corolla’s sporty design, and the interiors were sleek and made of high quality materials giving it a luxurious feel. The enhanced audio and navigation with Entune 3.0, and Apple CarPlay are also great features that come with every 2019 Toyota.

The 2019 Corolla Hatchback comes with Direct Shift CVT which means that the car is extremely fuel efficient, and 6 speed (iMT) intelligent Manual Transmission automatically adjusts the engine’s rotations when changing gears, ensuring smooth gear shifting.

The Corolla Hatchback also has ground-breaking advanced safety features that are ready for anything. The Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 has Lane Tracing Assist, which is a new technology that allows your Toyota to detect lane types and respond to your drive style accordingly. It also helps to maintain your position relative to the kind of lane you’re in! Overall the drive was extremely smooth, and I had a great time trying out the manual transmission of the 2019 Corolla.
