Three Things You Can Do to Love Your Body NOW!

  1. Find something you love about your body. This can be one of the most difficult things to do because most of the time we tend to be our own worst critics. We know what parts of our body that we hate at the top of ur heads but thinking about something that you like might require a mirror and some time to reflect. Think of something you love about your physical body and think of something great about your personality! (Ideally think of five things total)

  2. Positive Affirmations. Now that you’ve hopefully found something about yourself to love, look in a mirror and say it every morning after waking up and once before going to sleep. I’ve read studies that have stated that affirmations don’t work because they don’t penetrate your subconscious level, but there is a way to get around that. If you touch the part of your body that you are saying positive things about, the affirmations are scientifically proven to stay with us in our unconscious mind too, so its time to get handsy.

  3. Dress for the body that you have not the body that you want. I think all plus size bloggers repeat this and have died saying that size is just a number, but its time to believe it. I personally range between a size 14-20 depending on the company, and the material that the clothing item is made in. It doesn’t bother me for two reasons. The first is that, no one apart from me will know the size of what I’m wearing, and secondly because sizing varies so greatly between stores, it generally is just a number.

Apart from that, if you have put on weight or lost weight, your current closet might feel daunting to go through. If you have items of clothing that don’t fit right, whether they are too tight or too loose, it is time to donate them (or light them on fire, whichever you prefer). Wear things that fit your body correctly, and make you feel comfortable or evoke a positive responses from you. There is nothing worse than looking into your closet and seeing a pair of jeans that used to fit, you want to fit in to, or that you used to wear in high school!
